October 2 (Japan time)

  • A Kominka Forum Event - An 'Interesting people doing interesting kominka-related things' online seminar with Dorothee Eshin Takatsu of Horakuan Zen Buudhist Restreat Center.: October 2nd, Sunday, 9:00 - 10:00 am Japan time. November 12 & 13 (Japan time)

  • An *Okumikawa Inakakurashitai Event - A Yakisugi (Burnt Cedar) DIY Workshop in Shinshiro, Aichi. The event will be held in November, and we will share the details when they have been decided. In the meantime, the organizers would be grateful to have your opinions about yakisugi. The survey is completely anonymous and does not ask for any personal information. (*Okumikawa Inakakurashitai NPO seeks to revitalize depopulated rural areas in Japan and promote the protection and preservation of traditional Japanese folk houses.)

 

December 4 (Japan time)

January (14 & 15 Pacific Standard Time)

  • A Kominka Collective Event - A kominka event in Oregon! January 14th & 15th. In person and on Zoom. We will share details as soon as they have been decided!

 

April (Japan time)

  • A Kominka Japan Event - 'Minka Summit 2023': April 21 - 23, Friday - Sunday, In person in Shinshiro, Japan. English & Japanese simultaneous interpreting. Registration will be online in Autumn 2022 at Kominka Japan.

'Interesting people doing interesting kominka-related things' online seminar with Dorothee Eshin Takatsu of Horakuan Zen Buudhist Restreat Center
October 2nd, Sunday, 9:00 - 10:00 am Japan time

We are delighted that our guest will be one of our favorite people,  Dorothee Eshin Takatsu, who runs a Zen-do at Horakuan in the mountains near Suzaka, Nagano.  Dorothee will talk about her journey in becoming an ordained Zen priest of the Rinzai tradition and the process of restoring her kominka and building a shinminka  Zen-do. Questions will be most welcome!

This event will be on Zoom and there is no fee to participate. Simultaneous interpreting will be available in Japanese and English.
